What you are purchasing

Slate Smart Home sells digital guides (“modules”) that provide step-by-step instructions, device recommendations, and configuration guidance for building a local, private smart home system. Each module is focused on a specific outcome and is designed for homeowners who are comfortable with basic DIY tasks.

Our guides are informational products. They do not constitute professional electrical, installation, or technical advice. We are not responsible for outcomes resulting from the application of information contained in our guides. Always follow local codes and manufacturer instructions when installing devices in your home.

What our guides are not

• A substitute for licensed electrical or professional installation services
• A guarantee of specific outcomes or device compatibility beyond what is stated
• Technical support for issues unrelated to the guide content
• A service agreement of any kind

Digital access and download policy

Upon completing your purchase, your download link will be available in two places: on the Order Completed page immediately after checkout, and in your confirmation email. We recommend saving the email for future reference.

The following terms apply to all digital purchases:

• Your download link is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase
• You are permitted up to 10 downloads within that window
• After 60 days, the link expires and access is no longer available
• If you experience a technical issue that affects your ability to download (such as a system failure or connectivity problem), contact us and we will consider extending your download limit at our discretion
• Repurchase is required to regain access after the 60-day window has closed

Updates and corrections

We are committed to keeping our guides accurate and useful. If a correction or minor update is made to a guide you have purchased within your 60-day access window, you may re-download the updated version using your existing link. For corrections identified after your access window has closed, we may provide updated content directly via email at our discretion.

Personal use only

All guides are licensed for personal, single-household use only. You may not share, reproduce, redistribute, resell, or publish any portion of our guides in any form without written permission. Each purchase is tied to the individual buyer and is non-transferable.

Refunds

Our Refund Policy applies to all purchases. Please review it before completing your purchase.

Intellectual property

All content, including text, device recommendations, configuration guidance, and design, is the intellectual property of Slate Smart Home. Unauthorized use or reproduction is prohibited.

Limitation of liability

Slate Smart Home’s liability is limited to the amount paid for the guide in question. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our guides or the installation of any recommended devices.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of this site constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
